||Südburgenland is the crowning Austrian region for red wine; Blaufränkisch is the grape variety that represents the jewel in that crown and Uwe Schiefer leads the way in production of this wonderful red wine. He could most definitely be considered the Blaufränkisch King. He manages to retain the delicacy that these reds are famous for whilst achieving a concentration of flavour that many don't. His wines are intense, silky, sensual, complex and quite frankly world class. Parallels could definitely be drawn with Burgundian Pinot Noir. The good news for you is that this lesser known wine doesn't come with the price tag of some of its more famous counterparts.
